Eischoll:
Eischoll is a small village located on the left bank of the Rhône Valley, at an elevation of 1,230 meters, perched on a terrace. Eischoll offers breathtaking views of the majestic mountains, notably the Bietschhorn, and of the entire Rhône Valley all the way to Brig. The name “Eischoll” comes from the Latin “in excelsis,” which means “on high.”
Discover Eischoll, the birthplace of the “flower of light” in the canton of Valais.
Eischoll is the ideal destination for nature lovers seeking peace and relaxation. In the summer, you can go hiking or mountain biking, or take the Betradi-Express chairlift to explore the surrounding area. Mountain bike enthusiasts shouldn’t miss the “Lufu Bike Trail,” a route that leads from the Raron-Eischoll upper station to the Raron lower station, passing through steep rock faces. For hikers, the region’s varied trails offer magnificent views, diverse alpine flora and fauna, fir forests, sun-drenched meadows, and irrigation channels.
Eischoll boasts a rich and impressive 60-year history in winter sports. The ski lifts in the Eischoll-Augstbord region include a 4-seat chairlift, a T-bar lift, and a beginner’s T-bar lift.
The 15 km of slopes in total have something to offer every winter sports enthusiast. Everyone can learn to ski, carve, or snowboard on the slopes or enjoy their favorite winter sport. The trail leading down to the village is open all winter, and there is free parking at the chairlift’s lower station. In addition, there’s a 3-km toboggan run leading from Strygge to the village. To make the experience even more fun, try a Ghosky toboggan. These special toboggans can be rented at the lower station of the chairlift.
On Friday and Saturday evenings, you can also go night skiing in Eischoll.
